SMS Relay when iPhone is off

The sms is received on your phone then sent to your other device.
So no, it will not work if your iphone is off; unless you are using magic

It was kind of a dumb question, but I guess when I set ip up and saw that wifi/Bluetooth wasn't needed I thought maybe Apple was so how able to do it all in the cloud or something.
