SMS search not working

Has anyone else had problems with the SMS search not working properly in iOS4?
It seems to search through the last few messages that have been sent/received but anything that's a little older doesn't get picked up.

Seems a bit dull to have a search function that doesn't search anything more than a few days old!
 
I know this is nearly a 3 year old thread, but I recently started having this issue with my iPhone 5. SMS search is only working for the latest few messages, where as it used to go back much further. It started after one of the more recent updates. Anyone else having issues with historic SMS searches?
