I've had a search around, but couldn't find the answer i was looking for.

Since updating to 2.2, whenever i get a text message it now displays the persons name;

"Joe Bloggs"
Text Message

Previously, it just said;

"New Message"

I've had a look around the options, and couldn't see anywhere to set anything.

Is this a FW issue, or am i being thick?

Thanks

Do you have it set up so that you enter a passcode when unlocking the phone?

I do, yeah.

Is that the problem? Do i have to have no security for it to work?

I've tried that, but the SMS Preview gives you a preview of the actual text message.

If i enable that, i get;

"Joe Bloggs"
How are you toda...

If it's disabled, i get;

"Joe Bloggs"
Text Message

Ah, you don't want it showing the person's name...I think it's always done that with a passcode.

Yeah, i just want it to say "New Message" like it used to.

It was fine with 2.1 with a passcode, but since updating Friday, it's gone back to how it was in the beginning! :(

I don't want to know who the text is from, until i open it. :)

Yeah, there's no option to switch it back unfortunately.

For 2.1 firmware only - when you had a Passcode Lock on and SMS Preview turned off, a new SMS would just say "New Text Message" only on the display.

This was only available in 2.1. Other firmwares would have the senders name and then New Text Message written underneath.

Maybe Apple thought that the 2.1 behaviour was a bug and then changed it back the way it used to be.
