Is it that hard to be able to select multiple people to send a txt msg to???? I dont want to complain, but of all the things the 1.1.1 update did, wouldnt this be rather easy to do???? the most basic of phones any carrier has are capable of it. and i know... "Apple never promised to add features", etc etc... but seriously, there are a few things that a $400 phone should have... of which i would include everything a $300 phone has... a $200 phone has... you get the idea.

/end rant.

Pretty good rant.

But hey they did the ringtone thing for SMS so at least it's not being entirely ignored as a feature.

I really don't understand the absence of this feature. If anyone is tech savvy, can you advise whether it's something difficult to implement? I'm just curious. I mean, it would still count as a certain number of texts if it went to more than one person so it's not like it would be cheating AT&T.
Thanks!

You seriously can't do that on an iPhone

I knew there were some basic features missing, but that is ridiculous.

is it difficult to put in place because of the ichat like sms on iphone, what would happen if you send the sane sms to 10 people ? iphone would start 10 conversations ?

Thats kind of easy to solve IMO.

Send out SMS to 10 people - produces one SMS conversation.
1 person replies just to you, not all 10 people - produces a separate SMS conversation
1 other person replies to just you - produces a separate SMS conversation

It would basically work like the ReplyAll/Reply feature in email. If the original recipient list is maintained, it should stay in the same thread. If the original recipient list is broken, it should make a separate thread.

that makes sense

That's funny, my old piece of doodoo Motorola handled it just fine.

I'm a fan of Apple, but so bummed they took me back to 2001 on SMS features.

through the web?

Hey, would this work?

On verizon, I can log into my account online and send text messages from my computer. Can you do that on AT&T? If so, can you create an account on AT&T's website, log in from iPhone's safari, and send out multiple messages?

Just a thought.

why complain about it, you had 14 days after you purchased ya iphone to return it if you didn't like it...so why continue to complain .....steve didn't make you buy the phone

Noone is going to return their iphone just cause of that but it would be a feature that should have been there.
Almost every cellphone out there can send text to more than 1 person at time.
I think they should have added that feature or hopefully they will down the road.
