SMS Via Wi-Fi...?

Is it possible to send/receive SMS via a Wi-Fi connection? I have no reception at some houses, but I have a Wi-Fi connection.

Can I send and receive SMS' via email (such as TeleFlip)? My ideal goal is this: people can send SMS' to my REGULAR mobile number—I don't want to force people to send texts to XXX-XXX-XXXX@mms.att.net.
