So, I have returned to the PowerPC fold after many years away. I won a damn near mint condition iBook G4 for $45 shipped (with a good and long lasting battery!). It's great. I miss real keyboards with key travel and 4:3 orientation screens. It's got Leopard and it works perfectly in every possible way. It's a 1.33Ghz with 1.5GB and 40GB and a DVD/CD-RW. To the degree one can have a potential daily driver iBook, this is the one.

I'm having some weird issues thought. I installed SmTube with MPlayer and it was working great with 360p videos. But then all of a sudden I started getting a Hostgator 403 error with TonVid, and no resetting has fixed it. I occasionally get the same error when using TenFourFox on a handful of sites as well. I don't have any hosting setup, just a regular wireless connection to a router, so I have no idea what is going on. However, 95% of the web works fine.

I do have Privoxy installed but I get the same error whether I disable Privoxy for all browsers or have it enabled for all browsers, or any combination in between.

Second, when I use Leopard WebKit, things load faster than TenFourFox (sorry!), but I have a constant problem where pages just stop loading. The progress bar will load to about 10 or 15% and then stop. This happens in all tabs and it will not start working until I quite and restart Leopard Webkit.

I may try using Demeter and linking it to WebKit and seeing if that is a generalized solution to all my problems, but I'm slightly frustrated with these weird issues. If I can get them solved, maybe I can keep PPC as a primary computer into the 2020s!

That said, my main productivity computer is a GEOS Commodore 64, so I can put up with a lot of nonsense in the interest of keeping a computer involved with things :)

Hey hey, that seems to be working as far as the Webkit loading issue. Followup question, quas-related, but I can't load up any youtube videos in Demeter LepWK (no matter what), or in Leopard (unless I disable clicktoplugin). In the case of Demeter, youtube comes up just with a black screen. I feel like I must have some weird settings issues, heh!

Thanks in advance for the help. Seriously, the keyboard is just revelatory after living in the world of flat keyboards for so long.

I'm having the same problems with SMTube - I suspect it's a problem with their site - instead point the browser to m.youtube.com

Last time I tried it clicktoplugin no longer works - the better route is to install Ninjakit then install Viewtube:

Wow, this is great. I get a tiny bit of stutter with 360p webM but really it's usable (for now). As long as I can avoid 240p youtube, it's golden. When we have only 240p as an option, it becomes less usable. Not that youtube is an utter necessity for using a computer but playing videos is a big part of things.

So, the issue with loading in Webkit does not appear to be because of ipv6, but because of privoxy. As soon as I run into the issue where no tabs will load past about 10%, if I disable the proxy setting, the sites instantly load. Is there some tip for using privoxy - or another proxy - without causing this issue? Has anyone else had this problem?
