I have been PMin g DQ because it is evedential that polls I have not tougched says I have voted on. Changed password

Any other people having this???

This has never happened to me before.

Oh, and one PM to a God/Mod is sufficient, no need to send multiple ones - they receive enough PMs as it is, so I'm sure they will appreicate not being hassled in that manner.

Also, please take some effort to use proper spelling and grammar in your posts. It's not hard. Not only is it challenging for people to read, which can be frustrating, it also implies laziness. Most importantly though, it will also assist in ensuring the intended message is conveyed properly and people will be able to better help you and address your question/comment as result.

Just some constructive criticism for you. :)

It can be hard for those that don't speak English as their first language. So sometimes it doesn't imply laziness except laziness to learn English but... I wouldn't consider that to be lazy.

Not sure where iMacIntel is from nor do I care but often times the reasoning behind poor grammar or spelling is also the above. I know you and many other MR members know this but just wanted to throw out that reminder.

I believe it can be chalked up to youthful exuberance.

I realize that, and your comments are well-noted. Not trying to be rude, just offer some helpful suggestions. I hope I conveyed that by my :) at the end. And yes, that's fair about being lazy as well, however more often than not I have seen that to be the case.

Edit: He's from BC, actually, so as I suspected, no excuse... :p ;)

This is not the first time you've claimed that your account has been hijacked.

Either increase the security you use (don't save cookies, log out when done, etc.) or expect that we will begin to assume that posts with your name were made by you.

Just to make it clear, I couldn't explain imacintel's symptom, and have a vague recollection that others have had this problem with polls in the past, so I encouraged him to ask about it here and see if anybody has ideas for explaining or solving it.

Clearing cookies from macrumors.com apparently didn't help.

Perhaps a proxy/cache server is showing it?? cookies??
I vote in most polls and have never experienced that.
There are, however, polls I've voted in and simply forgot about.
But I'm an old man so my minds going :p

never heard about this happening unless people know your password or you keep yourself with cookies enabled at home where other people us the computer or at work.

If you've ever logged on at an Apple Store, there's your answer.

I have been PMin g DQ

Well if you're asking Dairy Queen why your MacRumors account has been hijacked, don't expect anything from them besides maybe a free Blizzard™.

Are the polls IP based or account based? This has happened to me before at work but only once. And no I don't leave any accounts logged in or my pc accessible, so it has to be sth. else.

Login based.

Now that's weird then. I too had it say I had already voted before. Only once but how would that be possible? And no, as I said before, I don't ever leave accounts logged in other than on MY machines and these are pw protected whenever I leave them.

In previous verisons of vBulletin it was based on something else (cookie? I really doubt it was IP), because I could vote in the same poll from multiple computers.

But that was a long while ago.. like vB circa 2003/2004.

That would be around the timeframe I was looking at. But cookies wouldn't work either unless they were global for the entire network.

Just curious, but is it possible it registered a double-click, and your "previous" vote was just milliseconds before?

That actually winds up happening to me a lot with posts...'you must wait 10 seconds before posting again.' Especially with my PB trackpad, which likes accidentally registering double clicks.

Were these forum polls or macpolls.com polls? The latter do have problems with the "you've already voted" thing from time to time... is there even a way to log in for those?
