I love the fact that you took the time to clarify that you were not intending to use your entire gallon tube of MX-4 on this job! You must not be following Apple's instructions? Nice job. I spent my day pretty much the same way. Unfortunately, not with Macs this time, but I still had fun.
I honestly enjoy simply fixing things. Building things, creating things. I do component level repairs of items most people have probably never heard of, yet I get a real sense of pride bringing something back from the dead.
It's rare that I come out ahead, monetarily speaking. But the experience is priceless
