hi I have a new box of snow leopard ready for UPGRADE from the last leopard, I want upgrade, my fear is that my data can be delete or something bad? maybe is a stupid question but I remember a box that say "make sure that your data is backup it" so...

Chances are, nothing will go wrong and all your data will be fine.

However there is that slight chance that the upgrade can go wrong and your data may be wiped or get corrupted.

Backup, just incase.
 
You should be backing up as often as possible ANYWAY! One bad sneeze and you drop your laptop and it's all over. BACK UP!
 
It's a precaution, but as stated you should have a backup for when problems arise. If not, you can have the terrible experience of wishing you had one when you most need it.
