Anyone else experiencing problems with apple remote and VLC. I am unable to pause/fwd/stop etc using the remote

The remote works in iTunes and EyeTV on my MacBook.

VLC 1.0.3 was working before the snow leopard upgrade from 10.6.2 to 10.6.3
but VLC 1.0.3 version has problems with apple remote in the leopard upgrade. So I thought getting the latest VLC version might help and nope that wasn't the case either.

i wasn't aware you could use the apple remote to control 3rd party apps

i believe there's a 3rd party hack app somewhere that allows you to assign keystrokes to the ir signals that the remote sends. try and hunt it down

yes
troubleshooting done:
1- upgrade vlc 1.0.3 to 1.0.5 (neither one works)
2- deleted preferences and reinstalled 1.0.5 (still doesn't work)

vlc was working before the update to 10.6.3, but now no version of vlc will work at all. the software update included a security update.
