Greetings all!
I am having serious problems since upgrading to Snow Leopard.
Copying files from an external device results in a message: 'Preparing to copy ..." which goes on indefinitely. If I open the document in the external device and use "Save As" to transfer it to the hard disk, there is no problem; but drag and drop doesn't work.
Trying to empty the trash results in a message: "Preparing to empty ..." but nothing happens.
It appears that the problem affects Finder functions. (I also experienced crashes with Quark Xpress 8, but I am sure that was due to Application Enhancer, since deleted.)
I am beginning to see why the Snow Leopard is in danger of extinction ... but in fairness, I must admit, I may have installed something incompatible that causes the problem ...
Any help will be most appreciated. SHKZLUhttp://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/smilies/confused.gif

Finder problems

Thank you for your suggestions.
I created a new account with admin privileges and the problem remains. I still cannot empty the trash.
I am seriously tempted to take ss957916's advice and go back to Leopard.
I'll hold off for a day to see if anyone has another solution. SHKZLUhttp://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/smilies/frown.gif

Snow Leopard + Finder Problems

Thank you all. I re-installed Snow Leopard and the problems disappeared. It would be nice to know where the gremlins were lurking, but life is too short!
She's purring nicely now at any rate.
Thanks again. SHKZLUhttp://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/smilies/smile.gif
