I think I have some solid objective proof that Snow Leopard is faster than Leopard. Just finished installing it and decided to run a benchmark I made (a very efficient fraction simplifier based on Euclid's algorithm).
Based on my results, 10.5.8 simplified an average of 1,574,750 fractions per second while 10.6.1 simplified 1,703,723. That's 128,973 more. This test was done with identical hardware. It was actually the same computer. The only difference is the OS version. The graph is attached.
