Isn't the whole point of OS upgrades to get a fresh system? I never do upgrades. I did once and had no administrator accounts after it.

I'm doing a clean install as I haven't done it since Tiger.

But otherwise, I'd be just doing an upgrade.

I'm doing an upgrade on both my 20 month old iMac and 10 month old macbook. I have allways done just the upgrades from panther to tiger then tiger to leopard and have never had a problem (touch wood) but if after the upgrade there is a problem i will just do a fresh install.

I will be upgrading both my MacBook and iMac because it is a family computer and don't want to mess with other people's files.

My laptop is only 8 months old... not much clutter... so I'll try the upgrade.

Last clean install was Leopard, but since then I applied so many tweaks and hacks, that I just 'feel' that it's not very clean anymore. I'm pretty sure that updating and a clean install won't be much different though, but I still like a fresh start every once in a while. So a clean install it is.

why didn't you just use the poll option here on the forums? why the need to use google docs?

anyway, I'm doing a clean install on a fresh new intel 160gb ssd (generation 2) :)

wow lucky! and the reason is because google docs rule x600 and im just kidding. google does rule though.

i did just an upgrade, although i really wanted a clean install - i didn't honestly have the means to back everything up at home.
