I have been using snow leopard for nearly a week and apart from quite a few annoying crashes (dreamweaver, safari etc) I thought everything was generally ok until I tried reading / writing a DVD on my Freecom external DVD writer and this was not acknowledging any discs.
I swapped from firewire to USB (snow leopard apparently has problems with
firewire) and now the drive can read pre-formatted discs but if I put
in a blank disc it will open toast 8 (ie acknowledges a disc has been put in) but then if I try and write to the disc it says that the tray is open (when the tray is closed with a blank disc inside). I don't think that toast 8 is compatible with snow leopard so am going to have to buy Toast 10 meanwhile a blank disc can not be seen in finder or any other application so I have no way of writing DVDs (this is a major problem for my work)
Any ideas how to get this DVD writer working?
From what I have read there is no easy way to uninstall snow leopard - I do have a time machine backup prior to installing but I don't want to loose all my file changes in the last week
help!
