Hi everyone,

I am new here as well as to apple. I love my MBP and have decided to install an owc mercury extreme pro 115 ssd along with my western digital 750 black drive in the optibay. I want to put snowy on the ssd and move my media to the western digital in the optibay. It was suggested in another post that I move my home folder. I don't really have a problem with that but I have some questions.

If I move my home folder off the ssd can I still use time machine to back both drives up and will time machine recognize that my home folder is on a separate drive than the os?

I also use carbon copy, will CCC clone both drives separately or as one?

What about restoring from time machine will TM try to put my home folder on the ssd?

I would really like to leave my home folder on he ssd and move my music (iTunes), iPhoto, aperture and downloads folder to the separate drive in the optibay. I know how to move everything else but he downloads folder. I have searched fo information on the Internet but I cannot seem to find a way to move the downloads folder from my home folder to my second drive. I do a lot of word processing and am worried that the ssd will have to wait for pages or ms word to access my Hdd which may slow down the boot up of these programs. I am aware that iTunes and h photo app will suffer from these libraries on the Hdd but I heard that ssds are not ment to store large files such as these libraries or do lots of writing like handling a bunch of downloading.

Thank everyone fo he help

Eddie
