I, in my honest opinion, love Snow Leopard. They packed all the features I can think of into the OS, and even a few dozen that I couldn't think of.

My question is: What the heck can they do that they haven't already?

So basically, when 10.7 comes out (let's just call it Puma because it's a cat name and Apple registered it), what do you think they will toss into it?

I think that they could really beat Microsoft by adding some sort of seamless Windows application transaction. Similar to Wine, except BETTER...

Much more useful dock, ZFS, use file metadata and better interfaces on that data, spotlight faster and improvements to use as a launcher, etc.

Go back to how it was in 10.5.

- New UI (Marble)

- Enhanced Dock. I think Windows 7's feature where right-clicking on an app in the "dock" will show recently opened files for that app is a great innovation and really useful. I hope Apple steals that idea.

- ZFS and built in NTFS support (if M% licenses it)

Ok, what is this marble UI everyone's been talking about? I can't find it.

(and I think you mean M$)

Marble is something along the lines of the SL dock, iPhone OS, and iMovie/iPhoto interface.

Lighten up... it was a joke.

What are you... like 12 or something?

Kind of hard to tell that it was a joke. And you don't need to insult me, geez.

Anyway, I thought marble was something like iTunes, I was trying to think 'What is the difference?'.

I think that they should give Quicktime 1st party support for .wmv files. Not sure if they are allowed to since it belongs to M$, but if they can, I would like that. Almost all movie files I download from the internet are .wmv

Make a More menu in the Click and Hold menu to see the extra contextual menus that you have in Right Click.

Fugly images below to show my idea.

make grpahics performance better for one. they are pretty bad in comparision to leopard

Forgive me for not knowing all the facts, but what evidence is there for reduced graphics performance?

In my experience, I've found all graphics effects and some games to perform considerably better. I described my Snow Leopard graphics here.

I did read in some reviews that the OpenGL benchmarks took a hit in Snow Leopard, but it's theorised that this is down to slight incompatibility between the benchmarking software and the new OS. In my real-world experiences, I've seen nothing but improvements.

I'm guessing that the integrated graphics chip in your BlackBook (mentioned on your profile page), dukebound85, isn't liking Snow Leopard very much. I've heard from people running Macs with integrated Intel graphics that their experiences with Snow Leopard have been somewhat disappointing, mainly in terms of graphics performance.

Here is what I still want from Apple.

Multi IM support for iChat. Although I have been an Adium user since I got my first mac, I would still like to see this.

A consistent theme across all apps (QT X, iTunes, Aqua, Marble...make up your freakin' mind!)

One Codec (pack) or player to rule them all!
Quicktime, iTunes, Flip4mac, Perian, VLC, etc... should all be rolled into one.

Fliqlo installed on every mac.

This would clear out a lot of forum space here on MR.

Oh, I don't know, maybe... get rid of AQUA, which is criminally UGLY, and which has remained unchanged since 10.0 Cheetah??! The Aqua scrollbars look sickening compared to the rest of the OS, people were upset when they didnt get rid of them in Leopard, and now, years later, Apple still hasnt seen fit to remove them. How difficult could it possibly have been to make the iTunes scrollbars OS wide? Theyre infinitely less hideous than the fluorescent blue, glossy, striped aqua scrollbars which clash so hard with the matte look of windows. Im utterly appalled and shocked that Apple's UI people saw fit to leave these eyesores unchanged for the past 8 years or so. Why couldnt they have taken cues from their iPhone or their web UI themes, which are lightyears ahead of this ancient aqua drivel?

I'd love to be able to print to my hp psc 2510. Huge fail

Now I need to figure out the best way to revert to 10.5.
