This has happened in the past, but I thought it was about time I looked into it.
I have an iMac 27" running Snow Leopard, a pc and a couple of NAS drives connected to my network. I connect to them all without any issues, by "Connect to Server". The iMac is left on all the time, so goes to sleep when not being used and normally works without issues, but every now and again I cant connect to the network. Internet works fine, but no connection to the shared resources.
The IP addresses are still listed in Finder but when i select them the iMac tries to connect, (without error messages), but cant. I tried disconnecting from the network and rejoining, but it didn't work. As I have done before, I then tried to restart but even that failed, leaving the background picture.
I forced the iMac to shutdown and when it restarted it was back to normal.....but any idea why this happens? Also any idea about having to force the shutdown?
thanks for your help.
