Ok, so everyone is talking about the new and upcoming Snow Leopard. Personally, I don't see the need for it. I mean Leopard runs flawlessly right now. Everything runs great! But what is the need for another Leopard?

I've heard that speed and memory are upgrades of this new software, but what else is there?

Will there be a mad dash to get it when it comes out? I mean, does everyone need to spend another $130 or so on it? Just wanted to know ahead of time, so I can start saving for it.

But I am missing anything about what is covers? Will it actually do a lot more than I thought?

Thanks

its certainly no eye candy update, but rather an under-the-hood update that should make things faster, more stable, more consistency, and offer new technologies that further strengthen the OS for the future.

hmm, the answer might be in this big stickied thread called What, Where, When, Why & How much - Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, just maybe, possibly, y'know.

The truth is that Apple hasn't released any particular marketing info on 10.6 yet. Believe me we'll know soon enough about what Snow Leopard has to offer. Patience.
(jeez, feels like we were just having these discussion regarding 10.5....)

open AL, grand central, those are all improvements under the hood, itll help u utilize your gpu when u need an extra processing oomph, itll make use of extra cores in your processor, safari 4, quicktime x, supposedly an updated finder thesse are all improvememnts. safari 4 i heard is the fastest browser of all time, all of these improvements are great, who needs eye candy anyway, what wonders eye candy did forvista

Some interesting reading in these links.... I think I will upgrade, but only after it has been out for a while. Leopard is running pretty well right now... :)

you should read the "Road to Mac OS X Snow Leopard:" articles on Apple Insiders site. They are very informative.
