Hello, need some advice on getting Snow Leopard.

I currently have a 2006 Macbook white, and its served me very well over the years. But it is starting to show its age and I can't afford a new machine just yet - so for now I want to upgrade it with more memory etc. The macbook came with Tiger, and in 2008 my friend installed his Leopard onto it for me. However I have no Tiger/Leopard installation discs whatsoever.

I want to time machine back up my Mac on an external, format the Mac, add new memory and then buy and install Snow Leopard.

I have 2 questions:

Can I install Snow Leopard without any other original installation discs?

When I time machine all my stuff back onto the Mac will all my applications need installing again (i.e Photoshop) ?

Any advice would be helpful!

1. You don't need any other discs to install Snow Leopard

2. Most apps will work fine as long as they are up to date but some apps may need to be reinstalled or reactivated.

w00t thanks.

Just ordered new battery, harddrive, snow leopard and a new external - should get another good year or two out of it! :)
