Snow Leopard restore over Tiger

I own a 17 iMac running Tiger and a white MacBook running Snow Leopard. My MacBook may be on the outs, so I'm thinking about making the iMac my primary machine. What I'm wondering is if I can use a Time Machine backup from my MacBook and restore it to the iMac. I realize this will wipe everything on the iMac, and that's fine with me. Anybody know if this will work?
