Snow Leopard shut down is slow

Hi, once I upgraded to Snow Leopard I noticed that my shut down was very fast, about 2 seconds. Now all of a sudden it takes 10-15 seconds to shut down. Any idea why this now takes so long??

When you shut down, how many programs are open?

None, nothing open or running, iMac is completely silent

Ah think I've solved it. I had the McAfee anti virus installed (says its SL compatible) I guess its always running in the background even if its not obvious. I uninstalled it and now my Mac is much faster, including shut down!

Why did you have that antivirus junk installed in the first place?

Must of been an impulse download lol, learnt my lesson though...never put anti virus software on a Mac!

Well.. "NEVER" is a bold statement.. But, for now at least, it's a waste of bits, and money if you paid for it..
