Snow Leopard Suggestion

Hi i am using 10.5.8, I would like to upgrade to 10.6 snow leopard. Please help me the steps for installation and should i required to backup of all my data and application or it's not required?

Backup if you have extremely important files. Uh, you put the disc in and click install.

How about the application? currently i am using Ilife 08, is it required to upgrade to ilife 09 for Snow leopard

Installing Snow Leopard: What you need to know

Backup all your files to another hard drive using time machine if you're really worried about it, install Snow Leopard as per normal, and you'll be fine.
