Snow Leopard to Lion? (HURRY PLEASE)

I have a Time Machine backup which is Snow Leopard. It is currently on an external. The iMac that I am about to purchase ships with Lion. Can I restore the new iMac with the Time Machine backup even though it is Snow Leopard?

You can migrate from that backup, but you will not be able to restore, however. The computer will still have Lion on it but your Applications, Users will be transferred.
