Before Snow Leopard, there was a check box in the trackpad preferences that would allow you to disable the trackpad when you were using an external mouse, which I prefer to do. Now with Snow Leopard, that option is no longer available, and it causes a lot of problems with typing.

I think the sensitivity of the trackpad is the problem, but when I am writing text, I will be typing along (touch typist) and the cursor will have skipped around and highlighted a place in the text and start over typing in the middle of what I had already written. Sometimes it will stop moving forward, and instead of writing more text, it keeps replacing the last character typed, almost as though it had used up all the characters that were allowed in that text box (but it hasn't).

I had resolved the problem for a while, by installing a wireless keyboard, which blew up recently [see my post re Front Row starting spontaneously in the middle of the night]. I thought I would try getting the Apple wireless keyboard, but that's $70 bucks I can't afford right now, so if anyone has any other fixes, I would appreciate hearing them.
