Hi guys,

I have the old Core Duo 1.83Ghz iMac from 2006 (still with Tiger on it).

I'm thinking of wiping the disc and installing snow leopard on it, as I was going to do a fresh install of Tiger anyway. Another family member has the 21.5" 2.5Ghz iMac from this year. Since this came with the snow leopard/iLife recovery DVDs, could I use them to do a fresh install on my old iMac, or will the different hardware be a problem?

Thanks in advance for your help!

you can not do this because the hardware is different. you need to use the retail disks.

Duff-Man says....I wish I had a $ for every time this question gets asked. As said, the disks that ship with a Mac are *model specific.* Additionally, the disks that come with a Mac are licensed for *that Mac only* - you, or whomever owns the computer, are *not* entitled to install on any or as many computers as you like...oh yeah!
