I am updating my Grandmothers IMac and notice she doesnt have Snow Leopard but only Leopard.

To purchase Lion when it is released later this month you need Mac Store which is only available with Snow Leopard.

Can you download Snow Leopard from Apple online store?

I looked around and didnt see the option

You can buy Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard for 29 USD as physical Upgrade DVD in the store only.
