Hrmm... Now if only there was some english handwriting support...

Haha! I really don't see the need for chinese handwriting! Heck I don't know a single word in chinese!

There is no point even if you do. Chinese speakers can type much faster than it takes to draw characters on the trackpad.

It's pretty awesome when you're learning Chinese or Japanese, since you can look up words in the dictionary without having to know how to pronounce them.

It's useful say if you weren't taught Pinyin and were taught 注音符號 as was I, or even a Cantonese speaker (as there's not Jyutping support in OS X to my knowledge), typing in Pinyin can be very tedious and confusing. Also if there's a new character you don't know (the average person only knows around 3500-5000) you can draw it then look it up. I'm very looking forward to this feature.

I don't know why they won't add English handwriting support to the iPhone or SL.

Chinese handwriting feature usable with Japanese?

Can anyone confirm if the handwriting recognition built-in for Chinese can also be used in the Japanese (KOTOERI) environment? I suppose it's not nearly so important, but it would be nice to use it for inputting more complex characters whose readings I don't know.
