Snow Lepoard: Mosaic Screensaver no longer works with external drive

Hi, I in the past with 10.5 leopard pointed the cool mosaic screen saver to photos in a folder (not in iphoto) that are on an external HD. For some reason now with 10.6.1 snow leopard this isn't working. It will work with a folder of photos on my computer's internal HD, but not an external one.

Ideas? Thanks!
