Are you looking at it outside in sunlight or very bright overcast/shade?

If not, there's not going to be a difference.

It's an extension of the S5 AOD brightness range and you'll only see a difference in conditions where the S5 is maxed out.

As someone that came from a S4, I really love the AOD. I’m sorry so many see it as a ‘minor’/minimum feature but I love it. It brings It a little closer to a traditional watch, and not to mention, it is so useful being able to see the Watch face any time you want without needing to raise your wrist! My old S4 sometimes didn’t recognise me raising my wrist So I’d need to tap the screen instead.

I obviously dont know what The S5 was like outdoors with AOD, but I think the S6 is perfectly fine outside in terms of legibility :)

Coming from a Ceramic S5 to the S6 the brightness is a disappointment. I also don’t notice the speed improvements either...

It doesn’t seem super bright indoors but I went for a run today and it was sunny out, and the display looked great.

Shouldn’t look any different indoors. The change is the S6 has a higher limit before it maxes out. Until the ambient is bright enough that the S6 AOD hits maximum, they should appear the same.

Not sure if this is relevant but i installed the ios watch update on my S5 and the screen seems dimmer even in the dark, i can barely read the text. Wasnt that bad before even with all the brightness settings turned up. Maybe apple made the older models dimmer to make it seem the new models are brighter.

You've double checked that the brightness setting didn't change in the update? It shouldn't, but....

ive check the brightness settings on the watch and phone. turned everything up to max. I suspect its an auto dimming feature ment to preserve battery like on the iphone but the iphone has a few more settings to on the phones display to tweak with.
