Ok ive searched on the boards and can not find an answer. Im on vacation its 5:45 am here so I cant really call lol. Ok I paid the full retail when the first Iphone came out, then last year when the 3g came out I paid 199 to upgrade. So does that mean I wont get the 199 price again? I here some people that just had the 3g say that they can upgrade for 399 for the 3gs. So can I just pay 399 without signing a contract? AGAIN ATT CONFUSES THE HELL OUT OF ME!!! LOL:apple:

No, you can't pay the $199 for the iPhone 3GS.

You only got the $199/$299 for the 3G because you signed a 2-year contract and got it as a subsidy.
That means if you want another phone (That is subsidized) within two years, you can't get it. You have to wait until you're upgrade eligible/end your contract early.

Depending on when you got your iPhone 3G, it might be better to cancel your current contract, and then get it for $199.

The 399 price is the semi-rebated price for current 3g owners wishing to upgrade to the 3Gs. I'm not sure what the non-rebated price would be but I suspect a heck of lot higher then 399.

The 199/299 price is the full rebated price for new ATT contracts or those who now qualify for a new phone like (i believe) 2G owners

16G 3GS - $399

32G 3GS - $499.

That's the semi-subsidized price.

At least for the present. :apple:

Or take out a new contract, without canceling your existing (less cost for you),
and pass your existing iPhone to a family member willing to pay the remainder of the contract.
