So excited, I think AT&T put a tower near my house

I had complained to them about weak signal at my house.

Well I just got home to 5 bars, and 8Mbps

Versus 2 bars 4-5Mbps

Is there anyway to confirm that they tweaked something?

I'm almost afraid it's too good to be true...but then again speed test isn't lying?
 
You could do a couple of things to verify a new tower.

Drive around your home in a 5-8 mile radius looking for a new tower, or an existing tower with a new cellular array on it.

Or

You can scour the FCC database for new tower builds in your area.

We have a ton of trees and Forrest so I'm not sure I'd find it.

I can say, it feels like Christmas right now!!!!

It's nice having a tower nearby. I have an AT&T tower about 1/4 mile from my home and I always have full bars.

I'm afraid to switch to wifi, turn it off, airplane mode tonight, in dear of losing this. But I'm sure it'll be fine

Oh please. Even if you stuck your head right on to one of the antennas the radiation given off would still be less than what a microwave would emit standing a foot away from it. Don't be silly.
 
Ok bad news. Well, confusing news.

I only have 3 bars right now. But same speeds 7-8 Mbps

Any ideas as to what's going on?

Stop counting bars. If you can make calls, send texts, and use safari, you have good enough signal. You're not always gonna get 5 bars.

Call or stop in your local ATT store and ask them, have you not done that?

When I complained about my signal at home, a rep proceeded to tell me about their MicroCell (which I already knew about) and said let me look up your address and see if you qualify for a free one. I did, and now have one...but, the applicable information here, he told me that there are plans for a new tower in my area within the next year.

Didn't know they had access to that information, apparently they do. So ask them...no one here has a clue as to why your signal and speeds have changed.
