I'm well aware that Apple will be releasing an updated iMac in the near future. However, sometimes we don't have the luxury of timing our purchase with the most recent release. You buy what is available when you need it.

I'm thrilled with the performance of my friend's beautiful (yellow/gold) iMac. It's a huge upgrade over her 2011 21.5" iMac which is coincidentally still running flawlessly.

Anyway, I just wanted to share how the new iMac (16Gb/512 SSD) looks in her language academy....

I absolutely love the quality of the display / all aluminum enclosure / speed / color

Despite the technological marvel of these M series SoCs I wrote this post from my old trusty 2011 27" iMac which is also working flawlessly. I'm of the opinion that Apple makes reliable computers....

It works really well with cabinet/kitchenette setup. Now all you need is a nice contrasting oriental rug. A little something to tie the room together.
Thanks Adam.... I appreciate your input.... I'll pass on your suggestion.... At the moment the center of the classroom has white conference tables for small group discussions.... I'm not sure if my wife (the owner of this small one room language academy) will entertain the idea of a rug because most of the students are young learners - mostly elementary & middle school students - who are apt to spill drinks. Her objection would be that laminate flooring is easier to clean when mishaps occur - which inevitably happens 😅

Thumbs up for your suggestion though 👍

This looks so good. Sadly, my orange one is backed up against the wall where most of the color is hidden.

I really love this M1 iMac, though like a lot of others I'm very interested in a 27" or bigger version if they can ever get one out there...

No worries. I was just making an obtuse reference to a favorite movie of mine that is definitely not appropriate for young children. But it honestly looks amazing in that spot, like it was always meant to be.
The real problem is the high correlation between rugs that tie the room together, and strange men who micturate on them.

Totally dig the yellow iMac. If I were getting one today I’d get either the yellow or purple one.

I see the iMac box on top of the cabinet in one of the photos, but it's gone in others. 😉

The classroom looks great. Love that color scheme.

Also, out of curiosity, why is the school called "Fren"? Is it a Korean word?

Hi japanime,

Thanks for your encouraging comment... The iMac box is back on the cabinetry... The classroom has no other place to store the box. Those pictures were snapped haphazardly at different times on moving day hence why the box is present in one of the photographs and not in the others.

"Fren" is the franchise name of the school... I'm not sure if its supposed to have some sort of special significance.

Also thanks for the positive feedback regarding the color scheme of the school. Your comment made me smile.

Looks great, I see that IQAir purifier as well. Top notch!
hehehe.... You gotta a good eye.....
It's the only air purifier that I've owned.
The purifier keeps a record of how many hours the machine is turned on to give an estimate on the remaining life expectancy of the filters.
The filters have a long long life. They're huge....
The air purifier is run at least 4 hours per day if not more.
Zero complaints

Thanks for the reply. The franchise artwork is nice, too 😊

My parents have an old iMac around that year and they think it's still valuable. It runs a very ancient OS and has a spinning hard drive. I have suggested they upgrade many times but they are older so tech is not a language they speak well. I wish they would get a iMac like your new one.

How about replacing the old HDD in your parent's vintage iMac with a SATA SSD? There are lots of YouTube tutorials.
That's what I did with the 2011 iMac that I use in my home office. It's still a nice machine.

The new iMacs are great too..... If money is no object I highly recommend them.

Love it. Only the Yellow and Silver iMacs have a proper 1-tone coloration. There's something special about them.
My poor photography skills and warm interior lighting didn't capture the two tone pastel front and rich warm yellowish gold on the back.... This video does a good job of capturing the different hues/shades of the computer.

That's the strangest map of the world I have ever seen. Not only does it place America on the east of the planet but there is an unfeasibly large gap between Russia and Alaska where it looks like you could comfortably fit another Africa if required, where in reality it's about 55 miles. That's why they have missiles directly pointing at each other.

Yup, the huge space between Russia and Alaska is laughable. That, plus the lack of many Pacific islands, does indeed make it a pretty weird map.

However, the placement of the Americas on the right side isn't unusual for maps produced in Asia, which put that continent at or near the center.

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to figure out what "Fren" is supposed to mean 🤣

I'm Canadian and I grew up looking at maps with North America on the left hand side. That's because the maps used in my textbooks were made by Western cartographers.

This is simply an Asian centric world map... No biggie..... They are common here in Asia.

In the end, maps are simply representations of our natural world.
