I reinstalled Leopard a few days ago and I'm getting this problem, it's annoying and makes the Finder useless, this is in every directory for every file.

I haven't checked any setting that I'm aware of and view options has preview enabled.

Automator > Library > 11th option in the list > Add thumbnails to Image Files.
Might be worth a try.

Sorry, that didn't help. I can't believe something like this isn't a default.

Well; it's supposed to be the default (obviously), but supposedly there's something wrong in your OS that keeps the thumbnails from showing up.

Have you used any 'icon-changing' software or any other stuff that messes around with system files?
