It's only a G3 400MHz 256MB of RAM, but it seems to feel functional now. With 128MB of Ram it was quite sluggish. I am still a PC guy and will never not be, but I am beginning to appreciate Macs too now. Will this setup run Tiger at all or does it need more RAM to be viable?

as long as it has firewire ports it is supported to run Tiger if it doesn't you can still get it on there, but it will be slower than Panther. I would suggest that unless you need Tiger for something leave it running Panther. So yes it will run Tiger, but it would defiantly need more RAM if you want it to run well, and panther is the best OS for those machines.

my old G3 400 iMac definitely had better performance running panther after I upped the ram to 768.....so I would definitely recommend increasing your ram
