So i just pulled the trigger on the original Air ... :D

i figured the air 2 is not so much an improvement and the 16gb is not enough but the 64 is too much for me... and the price difference between the air 1 32gb and the air 2 64gb (in Ontario, Canada) through the education store is close to $200 ....

so here is the thing is the Air 2 worth the $200 premium....?

For my particular uses i don't think so....

pdf reading and annotation mostly
the odd document scan/photo
the even less often used web browsing
and the almost never - as in, i don't remember the last time i did it - game playing

add to all of this that my household needs have changed to a 2 iPad household and the other iPad we have is a 3 which will need upgrading soon (still on 7.1.2 and planing on keeping it that way) it seems much better not to spending the extra cash now and do so when a new iPad comes out next year (which will be hopefully more differentiated that the current one...)

Just thought i'd share this with the community as others may be in a similar situation trying to decide between Air and Air 2 :D

Given what you have said, I think you made a good choice.

thank you.
i do think so as well actually... in the sense that i was wandering if i'd have buyers remorse (i do like shiny new things;) ) but in this case not even a hint of it :D

Is the price down already? I think you made a good choice. TouchID is nice, but not worth the upgrade. The average iPad user has their device in a case, so being thinner won't be something you'll even notice. These are my reasons I am not updating either of mine

agreed, and given that the display resolution stayed the same, i highly doubt that the reading experience improvement will be worth the extra $$$ either....

as as far as the 1gb ram/multi-tasking business/futureproofing... meh ;)

I've honestly considered a refurb'd Air for $339 or something from Craigslist.

ya, except the Canadian store does not have any refub iPad's (i've never seen them here) and 2) i'd rather buy new, just my personal quirk..

Ahh, I see. I'd rather buy a new one too. Which is why the refurbished one was only a consideration.

if they were available here i'd consider it, but in my experience (with macs) the education store discount is pretty much the same as buying from the refurb... at which point new always trumps refurb (at least for me)

Great purchase. The Air is a great tablet in every regard and the Air 2 while also nice doesn't warrant a $200 upcharge, IMO.

I just grabbed a refurb Air 16GB for $339. I was actually hoping to get a refurb 4 for under $300, but they didn't have any. I'm only really replacing my wife's 2 so that she can have the continuity features.
