iPod touch So I talked to an Apple Rep...

So I called customer support today and talked to an Apple rep. I asked what the tehcnical differences between the iPod touch 4g pre October 2011 vs the iPod touch 4g post October 2011 were. Her response was:

1) Color
2) Comes preloaded with iOS5
3) Better camera (now is 1 MP, will be about 3MP)

Other than that, there were no changes she mentioned worth noting, most of the changes are due to iOS 5 and not the hardware according to her.

I also asked her if there would be a new processor, she said there would not. She also said Siri would not be compatible with the iTouch/iPod touch (don't want to anger anyone!). It is only available on the iPhone 4s.

She was wrong about the camera, it still only takes 960 by 720 stills (According to Apples specs website).

Specs on a web page can be wrong and so can info from a customer support phone person.
Until the new Touches are available to be examined and taken apart there will be questions on what is new. Most of us believe there must be some new things about it.
It could have a slightly better camera or more Ram or even a better display. Wait a week or two for the final word on this. We've always had to take them apart to know for sure what's in it.

I'm just curious as I want to pick up an iOS device, but I don't really want to wait if there is no reason.

Most likely, I'll pick up an 8GB iPod, then return it if there are any changes, if not, I'll be able to use my iPod for an extra week.

Perhaps you have to wait because the official release date for iOS 5 is October 12.

No because the pre-installed software is different. Possibly some of the packaging too (the fold out documentation thingy might reflect some iOS 5 stuff). But make no mistake, you are getting the exact same innards as the one I have that I bought in September 2010.
