Wifey and I went out and bought 2 brand spanking new laptops with alot of ram and stuff and Vista.



2 days in and we hate hate hate it, and are going to return the notebooks.



Now I wonder if we can get around the Best Buy restocking fee.

I also wonder how much Ram I can shove in my MB.. 2gb right?

depends on the mb, the first ones only had 2, then a 3.3 and then 4 and now talk about it being 8 at somepoint with the newest ones

i dont think vista is that bad though personally

I cannot put my finger on it. It was really really pretty. I cannot even say it gave me trouble, I just didnt like it, It wasn't osx.

Oh and I got pissed cause out of the box, the notebook I got, the mouse button was effed from the get go.


We have c2d 2.0's I think. Bought early 07

id get two 2 gig sticks then if you wanted to max it out. it may only recognize 3.3 gigs but having dual channle would help though

~3.3 GB usable if you want to buy 4 GB of RAM.

3GB 341MB? thats a screwy number. So I need 2x2gb for each..

hardware limitation. you could save a little money and get a 2 gig and 1 gig stick but then you lose dual channel performance
 
to sum up this thread it is another pointless windows bashing thread.

Reason the OP hated Vista is it is not OSX.

So, it's windows bashing because my personal opinion is that I did not like vista. Not once did I say that it did not work, nor did I say that windows sucked. I said I did not like it.

I don't like Rap music, I don't like venison, I don't like reality tv. Saying I didn't like them does not constitute bashing them, however if I simply state a preference of not liking Vista, its bashing?

Opinions are like *******s my friend, everyone has one, occasionally they all stink. You might want to go wipe again.
 
You can always upgrade to XP. I fully intend to keep with XP regardless of my computers, for the long foreseeable future.

Though it's not a "hate" for me, I just don't like what they've done with the interface. Parts of it actually give me a headache.
 
Company of Heroes gets 60 FPS in the performance test Vista but once you play a real game you get network latency issues and the frame rate suffers as well.

I get 58 FPS in XP SP3 but the it works perfectly online. :(
