I don't think anyone can point you to an official release saying 2.1 will be announced. At this point it is all rumor and speculation (maybe good rumor and speculation but both none the less).

I doubt it'll be here Tuesday. Because it's been a while since developers got an updated beta, and the last beta temporarily removed the big feature of 2.1, the ability to push alerts to the system.
