My son is wanting a Mini and I know a new one will be out this year and he doesnt care. My only concern is when the next version of ios comes out he wont be able to run it or new games. Are there games out now that the mini cant run? If not how long before it becomes an issue? Games are the number one thing he will use it for.

Depends on what kind of games. The only thing that I've run across that I think might suffer slightly is Real Racing 3. But that's probably the most graphics-intensive game that I can think of, and without knowing better, I don't have a problem with it on my mini.

Tom

I wouldn't buy a mini if your goal is games. The full ipad is better for games.

Better graphics, better processor, and better battery.

Get a refurb iPad 4 and you'll be fine.

I have an ipad 3 64 gig I was going to give him but he seems to want a mini

I agree with what others are saying that the iPad 4 would be better for gaming. The mini is quite capable, but the 4 has a better screen. If he insists on a mini then make him play with it in the store first.

Well, better if you could convince him to wait for a couple of months, because the next version will be loads better (Retina display, better CPU etc.). The lack of high resolution on iPad Mini is what upset me; I extremely love its form factor and design.

I play GoF2 and DH4 on my mini, aside from a few crashes, both play very well.
