She explained that the ad reflected the current conversations going on in the blogosphere. “Like many, we are watching the rumor sites and using information to plan ahead as much as we can.” Otterbox promises support for whatever iPhone debuts, but they’re emphatically not stating or leaking anything further. “We do not have any confidentiality agreements with Apple,” Richardson told TUAW. As for those iPhone 4S Otterbox packaging photos that leaked yesterday, she explained, “What was circulating yesterday was not a case image for the iPhone 4S but a packaging design.” Otterbox has not identified the source of the photos.

Sometimes these rumor websites get you feeling like this:

(the carrot being the next iPhone of course...)

Can't say I find this information shocking as this has always been the case with manufacturers just guessing and crossing their fingers they are right (based on rumors).

But then along with that the iPod Nano was correct.

So you can't say they just guessed it. Maybe someone from Foxconn leaks the dimensions to his contacts who makes cases for profit

Well the iPod touch 3rd gen was originally going to have a camera so in a sense, the case is right.

good point.

What I meant by guessing was that the dimensions may be accurate, but until the product is announced by Apple (thats why I used the image of the iPod touch) no one is 100% for sure that what they manufacture will be the same to what Apple releases.

You are correct that no one is guessing the dimensions and they more likely do come from inside sources.

That was a prototype, so you can't say that it was "going to have". Apple creates several prototypes of their products, it doesn't mean that they planned to take it to market.

I see what you're saying, these cases are correct except we are uncertain that these are the models Apple will be releasing, right?

Again, early prototypes of the 3rd gen iPod touch included a camera.
