If I take p0sixninja's advice and upgrade now, losing my jb for the moment, what happens once the 5.0.1 jb is released? Will Cydia remember what all I had installed before and be able to restore it all? Will I have to redo all my activator settings?

Stupid questions, I know, I'm just so nervous about giving up my jb even if it's just for a few days. It makes the iPad so much more usable!

I used to use PKGBackup but there are other free alternatives to backing up your jailbroken apps and packages.

I will look into that. Will Cydia at least remember what apps I've paid for, or is it backup vs pay again?

Cydia definitely remembers what apps you've paid for. The apps are tied to whatever login you used to pay for them and can be downloaded again without additional charge.

Yep, I do this all the time don't worry about backing up.
