so the new 2014 MacBook Air still has the same screen
size & resolution as the 2013? (11" or 13")

are they the identical screens? (same brand and part#)

Does this finally put an end to my dream of upgrading to
a MacBook Air with Retina screen before Christmas of this
year?

thanks!

If it ain't broke, dont fix it. I've had my 2010 model since 2010 and have yet to find a reason to replace it. I've even dropped the sucker on its corner and it still work flawlessly! the only updates that have tempted me were; backlit keyboard & i5, but still not enough to make the jump. I have the 11 inch, and im not sure i would want much of a design change to be honest. it just works.
Largely unchanged since the Air's debut in 2010.

Apple does minor processor bumps mid-cycle all the time. I would assume that the screen is exactly the same. Think of this not as the new "2014 MBA" but more like a refreshed 2013 model. The MBA will get another refresh within the next 6 months, and it will be significant.

I do too. 13" since it was first announced in 2010. No reason to upgrade as it's only a travel computer and does what I need it to.
Cheers,
