looks to me like none of the developers who tested the golden master have a freakin 2011 imac, they had 2 weeks to test the GM and no one reported the serious freezing problem that people with 2011 imacs have with lion randomly freezing the whole system when playing video, this is indeed a showtopping bug and i think apple is rushing 10.7.1 now to fix it. im shaking my head as the devs had 2 full weeks to test the GM and no one reported this which makes me think that no dev has a 2011 imac.. unbelievable.

heres an official article from TUAW:

http://www.tuaw.com/2011/07/24/lion-bug-some-imacs-locking-up-after-playing-video/

Did you read the article? This line here explains it:

Although the bug is difficult to reproduce reliably, it's not confined to any one type of video.

Most likely, since it can't be reproduced reliably, none of the devs with a 2011 iMac experienced this issue.

This is to be expected in a .0 release. The devs can't find every bug, even big ones like this. No cause for complaint.

I have 2 2011's (imac), and haven't seen the issue yet with heavy use. I'm not doubting the problem and just wanted to add my feedback.

did u watch many youtube videos?

it happens after u wake ur imac from sleep and watch a youtube video, its not easy to reproduce but happened twice already so.. yea.

I never put my computer to sleep. Ever.

So if I were a tester, I would have never seen the issue.

Looks to me like it was just missed. Its not that big of a deal. 1, its hard to reproduce, 2, its only iMacs, 3, only under certain situations, 4, seems like a Graphics driver and or Flash update may fix the issue.

No worries. Im sure it will be fixed in 10.7.1 or 10.7.2 :D

This happened to me watching ign videos I downloaded the latest adobe flash from adobe and it said it was beta version for lion but have not had the freeze issue since. So I would try doing that it should fix it I also have an 2011 iMac just got it last week

you think this is funny? this is a serious issue and it can happen anytime u watch a youtube video.

and u have ur machine running 24/7?

it happens when watching QUICKTIME VIDEOS too not only youtube, the chance is just higher if u want a youtube video.

I dont know, I have not had any issues at all with Lion on 3 machines (except with Gmail & Mail)

Did clean install for each of them

Installed Flash 11 beta 64-bit for all of them.

Have iMac, MBP and MacMini.

I didn't mean to poke fun at you so harshly, it would bug me if my Mac froze up on videos.. come to think of it I have had this issue before, years ago in 10.2. Annoying, yes.. like your lack of proper grammar and spelling; but a showstopper, NO.;)

lol lets hope apple gets on their game together and release 10.7.1 tomorrow or tuesday.

I reported the bug a couple of weeks ago, and it was a duplicate (i.e. other developers had already reported it). They are working on it.

What's the big deal? Bugs, even big ones, are to be expected in a .0 release. If you can't live with them, don't upgrade until the .1 or .2 release. If you expect no big bugs in a .0 release, your expectations are set way too high.

the big deal is that the developers job was to test for any SHOWSTOPPING bugs and this indeed is a showstopping bug.
