It's routine maintenance that happens frequently on Sunday and Wednesday mornings, and not an indication that new Mac models are being added to the store. It's normal for the store to be down for 3-6 hours during maintenance. If you search the forum, you'll find dozens of these "Apple Store is down" threads, filled with wild speculations that all result in nothing.

From this site: Is The Apple Store Down? - Apple Store Status Check
  • The average Store downtime is about 2 hours and 48 minutes
  • On average the Store goes down every 2 weeks, 1 day, 5 hours and 36 minutes
  • The last Store downtime is 6 hours and 14 minutes

It's nothing. The site do this on a regular basis nearing a new release (like the iPhone)
The reason they do maintenance now is because it's the time in the week were there's probably fewest visitors. I don't think they all of a sudden will chose this as the new slot for product updates : D
