So what is the final word. Does Leopard do a time machine backup when you are disconnected from your external and then transfer it all over when it connects?

So what is the final word. Does Leopard do a time machine backup when you are disconnected from your external and then transfer it all over when it connects?

I think it does it when you connect if you haven't done it after a specified interval (an hour?).
