So, was there a GPU upgrade from the 3GS to the iPad to the iPhone 4?

I am curious if the iPhone 4 uses the same GPU as the iPhone 3GS because of the higher resolution screen.

Does anyone know if the 3GS and the iPad used the same GPU? I am inclined to believe the iPhone 4 uses whatever GPU the iPad used.
