I'm just curious what Apple might have for the crowd that still wants a small iPhone? (I'm already in line mentally for the larger iPhone)

Do those folks get last year's technology or will they be forced to upgrade to one of the two new iPhones for that?

I'm thinking Apple will have the smaller form factor for those that don't want a large phone :)

As long as there is reasonable demand, they will keep selling the older models.

5S for sure will be around. The 4S - maybe, maybe not.

I don't want a bigger iPhone...I've had the Xperia Z at 5" which was too big.

Even my Moto G at 4.5" is the limit of what I consider acceptable for me, although I expect a 4.7" iPhone to be more ergonomic.

We'll see - I'm not in any hurry to get rid of my pristine iPhone 5 with only 89 battery cycles just yet.

Apple has never really cared about what people want. They're moving on to 4/7 and that's all there is about that. :D

That's not Apple's way, my friend. They'll tell you 4.7" is the perfect size and you need to use THAT. ;)

The past couple of iPhone introductions, Apple has kept a previous model available as a lower cost, lower storage unit. I think they will do the same here.

It makes sense that the 4" will be the entry-level phone for years to come. The problem being is that it would seem to necessitate at least 2 new phones every year (not even including the 5.5" life cycle)

I'm kind of curious what the cycle will look like:

2014: iPhone 6 > iPhone 5s > iPhone 5c
2015: iPhone 6s > iPhone 6 > iPhone 5s
2016: iPhone 7 > iPhone 6s > 4" iPhone 6c?
2017: iPhone 7s > iPhone 7 > 4" ???

I think the small form factor will be limited to Apples older iPhone models. Once the new ones are released I can't see Apple making new smaller versions again unless that is what the "C" models will be.

I agree that Apple will not sell a 4 inch iPhone 6. Apple's way is by telling us what we want, not the other way around. Im sure they'll say that 4.7 is the perfect size for one handed use. Thats what they said about the 4 inch screens! Lol. Either way, the iPhone 5s will be around a LONG time (at least 3 years of support) and im sure Apple will keep it in the line-up until iPhone 7 :)
