When you choose your wallpaper it asks if you want to use it for 'lock screen', 'home screen' or 'both'.

I don´t want to smudge my camera lens!

I´ve also noticed that swiping between the pages isn´t so smooth anymore with wallpaper in the background. That´s also one reason I don´t want a wallpaper.

I think this is because now we HAVE to use a wallpaper and using wallpaper taxes the performance.

Just curious - are you on a 3G or 3GS? It might not be the fact that there's wallpaper if you're on a 3G. iOS4 could just be *that* slow.

I can swipe left/right extremely fast over and over again with absolutely not problems, smooth as ever.

I did a restore instead of an update so not sure if that's why.
