I would think it's around 8am here in the UK - same as last year.
But 12:01am EST equates to 6:01am in the UK it may be earlier.

I've been searching since yesterday after the keynote, trying to find out when Pre-orders are going to take place. I've heard everything between 12:01am PST to 3:00am PST. Short of calling apple and asking, this is irritating. All they have to do is post it on the website officially and it'll put a lot of peoples mind at ease.
Unfortunately I'm on the east coast, so I really hope its not 3am PST. Since I leave for work at 6. Anyway, If someone could please confirm when pre-orders are, I'd really appreciate it. If not, It looks like I'm going to be up most of the night.

That's wrong. (according to everything I've seen & read).
It's 12:01 am pacific, 1:01 am mountain, 2:01 am central, & 3:01 am eastern
I'm hoping you're right. Thats the majority of what I've read as well. Will be setting my alarm for 3:00am.
I usually wake up around 5:00 am Central & the phone releases (allegedly) at 2:00 am Central. Anyone think I'd be missing out on Sept. 21st delivery if I waited those 3 hours?
No, you'll be fine. Heck, I'd suggest waiting a few days, they'll have plenty!
In all seriousness...no one really knows for sure when the first wave will be allocated until that first person posts that their delivery date slipped. Last iPad launch I got in the first wave with an over 8-hour delay in getting my order placed, last iPhone launch I got in the first wave of deliveries and couldn't order until about nine hours after they started (due to AT&T issues with their site)

Exactly WHEN will they STOP taking the pre-orders? I get paid at 4am [Bank of America], and wanted to pre-order it as soon as the funds arrived to my account. I didnt want the site to crash or they stop taking pre orders after a certain time.
