As always new models earn their shortened nickname after being out a while, though we could have a poll to see the best/most popular name for the new model.

I've just been calling it the RMBP, no hyphen. I figure in another year or so all MBPs will be Retina-display equipped, and we can go back to just calling them MBPs.

RMBP

But I do like the idea of a honda-ish Type-R logo that can go on the lid

Now RMBP.
When the old ones are discontinued and there are only RMBP around we switch back to MBP only.

The predominant abbreviation I've seen is "RMBP". I think that's the easiest one to type and understand. Calling it the "MBP Type-R" makes it sound like a wannabe sports car. If that's the one we go with, we all have to put body kits on them and increase fan noise by putting a huge muffler contraption on the back.

If only, IF ONLY our laptop could have as much class as this one:

The type R was a bit of light hearted fun, but it's getting votes :D

I like MBPr, MBPR or MBP-R. :)

RMBP is clean too, but breaks the traditional start with MBP itself.

And continuing with the tradition to syllabize acronyms:

uhm-beep-er (MBPR) sounds better than Errembpp (RMBP).

The Type-R sounds like something a high school dropout working at their friend's body shop would call it.

RMBP was my choice although MBPR would do just as nicely. I think its better to have the "R" out front since it identifies what you're talking about immediately.

Why can we not just call it what Apple calls it?

Are we all just so lazy that we can't type out "MacBook Pro with retina display?"

rmbp

rmbp

feel bad for non-retina mbp

like plain iced tea getting stuck with unsweetened iced tea moniker

I'm calling it the rMBP. I think it looks better with a lower case r. Just me though
